Can anyone identify this vintage tama finish ? Last viewed: 13 hours ago

Saw this decent deal on a what looks to be a vintage 79-80 vintage Tama Swingstar that i may get my hands on, but i was wondering if anyone could identify the finish.. Judging from my research into Tama's vintage catalog section, the finish looks to be called "Royal Pewter" or "Platina",

but the thing that confuses me is the bass drum hoop inlays, which clearly have the "Metallic White" finish..

Pics are horrible, and i emailed the guy to send me better quality pics to see the finish clearly, and to see if there is any damage to the wrap, chrome, or shells..

I loved these drums and owned a kit when i was in my late teens, early 20's..The Zola coat finish inside the shells made the drums speak with power and clear attack, but also retaining a certain warmth to them.. These didn't have re-rings but still sounded great..Maybe it's just nostalgia, but when these drums have brand new heads on and tuned properly, these can give any current Tama drum series equivalent a run for their money..I left a link to compare the kit from the ad to the ones in the catalog..

Thanks in advance for the replies..

cheers,

Rob

Looks more like Dusty Muffler Tape to me....:)

[seriously though I think that's what it is]

Downtownfarmer-- I contacted the seller again and he said that's exactly what it was, hence the cheapo price.. It would be a lot of work to remove the tape glue residue, but goo gone will do the job fast.. Whoever did this insane wrapping is nuts ! Lol !..

But i can't help but wonder that underneath lies an original, perfectly preserved Metallic White wrap.. Still maybe on the fence with this one.. We'll see.. Hmmmm
