I wondered if anyone knew anything about them. the seller says they are Gretsch Elite Drums, with Gibraltar high hat, and Gibraltar cymbal stands for $400 OBO. It comes with Paiste, and a Zildjian Cymbals, and a high hat. I Paid amlmost $1000.00 It's a steal! I am anxious to see what the cymbals are too. Any input/advice will be appreciated.

The drums are Gretsch Catalina Cub series first generation with the single /center lugs. The series is Laun Mahogany, sounds decent, and the shell pack only sells for around $600.00 new, certainly not top of the line. Considering the kit has cymbals and hardware, I'm sure it's worth the asking price.

Yes, it's good deal...and Catalinas, while not garnering much respect in general...are solid and decent enough drums. They aren't crap.

And, as mentioned, the value of the cymbals and hardware alone is probably $200 right there....

... check the long tension screws carefully. The reason they went to the new double lug config on the catalina's is because of the LARGE number of bent screws. dealers and shops were having a dicken's of a time getting replacement parts. they put them to bed after that. just a thought.
