I like that it has multiple snare cord insert holes at the bottom of the P-85 throw off. The ones I got only have 2 holes.

Nice! I think you got it for a good price! It's the blue and olive badge with the rounded edges. I believe this badge was introduced toward the end of the 70's. I used to own the pointy blue and olive badge which was a 77 if my memory serves me correctly. They're a great snare drum. Get yourself a coated Ambassador and an Ambassador resonant head. I've tried this snare with many different heads, but the Ambassadors worked best for me. Enjoy the snare. It's a classic!

I agree you can go wrong with a coated Ambassador, however my 1965 Acrolite has a coated Aquarian head with a white power dot. It was on there when I bought it and it sounds SOOO GOOD!

I think my other Acrolite has an Evans 360 head on it, but pretty much the rest of the herd has coated ambassadors.
