Surfcollector you are right.

Those lugs look the same as the one's on my 1966 Trixons. As for value I think that may be a little high based on my experience. If it came with stands, cymbals, etc.. then I would say grab it. Believe me it is a monumental task trying to track down the period correct stands.

By the the poorly photos in the listing iam guessing that the set is from 1967-69.If i see the photo right on the bass drum the tom mount has the plate that has the screws on each side of the mount Trixon did this in or about 1967.The mounts before has the plate mounting screws the same as the mount with out the screws on each side of the mount..Wish they would have a better photo of the badge that would help out alot on nailing down the date...On the shell's they would be 5 ply beech wood with out rings..Almost the same type of shell that Sonor used but Trixon shells are NOT Sonor shell's some people think they are all one of the same...Mikey

unfortunately,the listing has expired, so I can't see it but with regards to the Trixon tom mounts. Trixon only ever had 3 tom mounts. 1) cast aluminum and conical/round until 1950 2) ship or teardrop shaped, chrome on cast white metal with an embossed pre 1956 badge and 3) an identical ship or teardrop shaped unit with an embossed post 1956 badge(used until the end with slightly varying paint combinations). The latter two mounts were attached with a 5 mm bolt from inside at each end and braced with an internal support bracket , attached with two halfround carriage bolts situated about 2 inches from the edge of the mount, going from the outside right through the shell. All tom mounts were done this way. The support bracket was critical to maintaining the structural integrity of the shell. If the support bracket is not there, it is likely a retrofit and or a rewrap.

the similarily fitted cymbal arm mount does not always have the support bracket. Trixon had a bevelled and sanded reinforcing wood plate on the bass drum roof of the old 3 ply drums. Sometimes by special order or retrofit the cymbal arm might be located outside its perimeter. A reinforcing steel bracket was advisable there, especially with those older shells.
