Camco Tuxedo with 14" FT Alert!!!

Not mine, but I saw a nice Oaklawn Camco Tuxedo kit with 20-bass, 12-tom tom, 14-floor tom and 8-lug snare in Blue Moire at Drum World in PA last night.

Also had the original Camco bass pedal and resonant heads. The wrap had some of the typical satin flame scratches and the hoops need to be touched up. The chrome was in great shape. Not sure I heard correctly, but I think they said around $1,000. The 14" floor tom still has the original legs too.

They just got this in two days ago, so someone might want to jump on this. ;)

Just called the store.

To the horror of all vintage drum enthusiasts they've decided to break up the family and sell it piece meal on ebay. Gotta love it when people smell the almighty dollar....Lame

I live 5 minutes from the store. If anyone wants me to check it out in person let me know. I cannot do so until Monday evening at the earliest.

Phoned them today but they indicated that they are going to list them on Ebay and let the market determine the price. Just seen that larryz posted the same info. Yes it sounded like they think there is going to be big $'s to be made selling it in pieces, but I told them maybe if they were Aristocrat's but probably not Tuxedo's, but who knows I guess we will all see.

Thanks for the update. It's nice to see they didn't piece out the kit. BTW there are scratches and even some spidering/cracking in the wrap on some of the drums.

There was also a Camco bass pedal that came with the set, but I do not see it listed with the auction. They installed a new leather strap, which reminded me to pick up an additional strap for my son's Gretsch Floating Action pedal. ;) For that "just in case" moment when his original decides to give out.

It's added to my Watch List, so we'll see where this ends.

I bid but I bet it goes for near $1800 or more. I do dig that finish for sure. I know it would clean up easy with scrubbing bubbles.

Yay I won the kit!! $1300 seems a bit steep. The highest I have paid for a vintage kit EVER. Oh well. Hope it sounds as good as it looks!

Congrats. I'm also glad someone at VDF was able to get this kit.

It really is a nice original (minus tom and snare heads) unaltered kit from the original owner, which will clean up nicely. Everything is there, but it just needs a nice scrubbing bubbles bath and hoop re-paint. I was told he traded it in for a newer kit for his son.

Ask about the Camco bass drum pedal, if you want it. ;)
