Camco Oaklawn Maple Natural

Hi folks,

Just sharing some pics of a gorgeous set of Camco's that just made it across The Atlantic.

Sizes: 22", 16", 13" & 12". (COB snare in the picture is LA badge)

The previous owner redid the natural maple finish and restored it to perfection.

All shells are in round and the bearings and interiors are absolutely perfect.

Minus,... all 3 mufflers are missing and although the 12" hoops are COB, they don't seem to be the same type as on the 13" &16".

All toms have Ambassadors on top and bottom.

The bass drum has a coated powerstroke III and smooth sigle ply on the front.

The entire kit sounds fantastic but the absolute winner is the bass drum.

Without any muffling,... the sweetest bass I ever heard.

I'll take some shots of the edges and interiors tomorrow and post them later.

Hope you enjoy it.

Stef

I'm glad to see that Customs finally let them go! Hope everything made it a-ok. That's a beautiful set you have, my friend. Can't wait to hear them next time I'm in Belgium.

Very nice! the new finish looks great. It looks like a satin finish, is it?

Thank you!

Thanks Fellas,

Big thanks to Aaron forwarding them to me.

Customs held them for almost 10 days but all's well that ends well,...

Thanks again buddy.

Blairndrums,... I used to have "many nice kits" but sold most of them to finance my Camco addiction,... (is there a cure ?)

JC, the wood has indeed a beautiful satin finish. The person that did them must have known his stuff. The shells are absolutely flawless.

The thing that puzzles me though is the odd positioning of the bass drum tom holder. What I've seen from most Camco's is that the badge is on the front and the tom holder is positioned on the player's side.

Maybe the Camco experts can shime in and help me also on the dating.

I don't believe I've seen many Camco sets with the combination of: triangle tom mount, disappearing spurs and curved FT legs.

Dolfan and Slingalud calling,...

Ahh spectacular Stedi! Very classy. What you said about the bass drum is something many drummers miss. That is the fact that not all drums can do the same thing. Some drums, like your bass drum, just have "it" and no amount of head combinations and tuning technique can recreate that in another drum. Great for you sir.
