Camco drumset

Were they built better than Rogers from the same era? Did they introduce unique hardware like Rogers? I don't think so. Somewhere along the lines it got started that Camco drums were the best and the unavailability of them gave them that mystic. Soon drummers were paying crazy money for something that came to fame through over blown hype. Sorta like the dw fascination these days.

You’ve obviously never sat behind a 60’s Camco kit.

Drum Kits
1965 Ludwig Clubdate Oyster Blue
1966 Ludwig Clubdate Oyster Black
1969 Ludwig BB Blue Oyster Keystone Clubdate
1971 Ludwig BB Black Oyster
Early 60's Camco Oaklawns Champagne Sparkle

I have not, but I've heard them, they sound good, better than Ludwig or Rogers? No. In my opinion it's the rarity and the turret lugs that make them so desireable.

Just having heard them is not the same as playing them, choosing heads, tuning them, etc. I have been into Camco long before they became so desirable. I’ve owned or own George Way, Ludwig, Sonor. Slingerland, Tama, Yamaha, Zickos, Rogers, Gretsch & Fibes. The only drums I actually like better than Camco are George Way drums!

Now I know it’s like anything else, it’s all subjective and personal preference. But until you can honestly say you have owned them, played them and got into the nuts & bolts with them, I can’t really take your opinion serious.
