Camco Drum dating Last viewed: 39 minutes ago

Just purchased my first Camco kit. Oaklawn badge, 20/12/14 in Blue Moire aka blue satin flame, pretty sure its going to be 4 ply maple with painted interior which most were. Based on the information I have researched there really is no way of determining what year they were made. My best guess is probably 63/64.

Seems it could be from 62 to 68 or so. Is there any info out there that I am missing?

Thanks, Steve

Beautiful kit! I can't help with the dating, but that is one lovely set of drums. Nice find.

Kits:
1950s Gretsch Name Band in Midnight Blue Pearl (13/16/22/14sn)
1965/66 Ludwig Club Dates rewrapped in Black Diamond Pearl (12/15/20)

Very nice! On Camco 14" floor toms the leg brackets were mounted up unusually high on 6 ply shells. But on 4 ply shells they were down closer inline with the lugs.

On very early Camco drums ('61/ '62) the T-rods on the bass drum were the same found on George Way drums.

No WAY to really date Camco drums, just guesses. COB hoops disappeared around '65 or '66.

The BDP is a 6 ply. The Burgundy Sparkle is a 4 ply. Check out the leg mounts.

It shouldn't have a clear interior if it has a wrap. Clear interiors were used on lacquer exteriors while painted white interiors were used on wrapped exteriors.
