Calling all Rogers Powertone owners...

There are a good number of beavertail 6-lug Powertones on the 'Bay going for what I consider pretty big money.Someone tell me please if these drums are all it,because after 35+years of playing I've never owned a 6 -lug anything that compared to an 8-lug snare. And I've owned a LOT of snare drums, including 2 Dyna's(which I did not care for),a 6-lug hook-rim Gretsch and a 40's 6-lug hook-rim Leedy. Why does a comparable 6-lug Slingy go for 1/2 the money?Rarity?Tone?Because?

If that is a 6-lug,5" or 5 1/2" X14"'s designation, then yes. Please don't take my query as anything but sincere interest-I never would know why Black Beauties are so respected until I owned one,and mine was mistreated by the previous owner.

Don't own a 6 lugger Rogers. I do own a couple of Powertones - wood and COB. The COB is a sweet drum. The wood is pretty cool. It's not the best sounding wood snare, but it gets the job done. I think they may be a bit overrated. Then again, good sound is in the ear of the beholder.

I have three COB POWERTONE snare drums, a 1963, 1967 (from just after the fire), and a 1970. I have two wood Powertones, a 1963 three ply that is to die for, and a 1965 five ply. I also have a 1964 Tower that I love. All 8 luggers

The only 6 lug drum I own is a 67 5.5x14 Green sparkle Slingerland
