Calf Skin Snare head

From Gilnar

Has anyone tried Remo Fiberskyns? How are they?

I use one on my Star snare and it is a narrow usage head,IMO.I like what it has done for this drum, but using it anywhere else is not something I would suggest. It has taken away the bad ringiness of this one drum, but using it on a woodie, at least one of mine, was not what I would call a good experience. It is a rather heavy weight head.

Fiberskyns are ok, imo, but they just don't have the same sound or feel as calf. They feel much stiffer under the stick. They sort of approximate the sound at certain tensions, but really fall short if you like your drums tuned to lower pitches.
