The BDP Ludwig set....

Long story about this drum set... When I was teaching back in the 80's, a student had it in the trunk and wanted to sell them... So I bought them...

Ok, the bass drum had some type of shell damage on the bottom, affecting the inside and they all had Rogers mounts... The top plate was for strength...

About 6 years ago I traded this set and the Radio King snare on an earlier post for a set of Premier Vibes.... Now they are back with the heads I oiginally had on them!

The 16" Floor tom is the best drum and is all original (As far as I can tell) and no major problems. No extra holes and missing the tone control..

13" tom had a Rogers mount installed, otherwise some replaced tension rods and some snare rash. Splintered wood on the inside by the mount

12" tom, same as above, less rash... Has a rims mount!

Bass Drum does not have a badge? Hmmm the Rogers mount (Which I will leave on the bass drum) is probably installed where the badge was, but there are no extra holes on the drum for a different mount.... Metal Hoops wrong tees and claws - The drum does have the spurs! I sold a set of those a few years back for over 50$!

The large metal plates, I added when I was of course much younger and when I was gigging... This in fact was my gig set... I added the plates because I pounded the heck out of the toms and the 12" tom would bounce around like crazy, so I figured it would strengthen the bass and stop any potential damage...

All of the drums are missing the tone controls... Why you ask? Because I took them all off many years ago and sold them on Ebay, so I could mount large eye bolts in the larger hole.... So you say they could just take the heads off and unloosen the eye bolt.... Nope, I destroyed the threads.. The only way they could take the set is hack saw the eye bolts and or bring in bolt cutters to cut the cables.. I figured who would do that just walking into a hotel restaurant?

Why??? Because this set was a house set, that sat in a bar/restaurant for over a year and I played 4 shows a week there...

So in my infinite wisdom I went to the local bike shop and got that black lock cable and had special lengths made... One that looped through all of the drums and one through the hardware legs...

I locked it up after I was done playing and took anything that was easy to steal...

So the set will be shipped in the USA for $485 - AS-IS... I did not remove the plates from the bass drum and have no idea what was going on with it over 20 years ago, but the set has 100's probably at least 1000 gigs on it!

The parts alone are well worth it!!!!! If I get a chance, I will remove the plates, but I just need to get these out of here... Offers??

Interesting story about that string in the bass drum... In my days of making inventions, I took a piece of foam, painted it black, I mounted another string to the foam and ran it through the Rogers Tom mount (yes, I got fed up with the bouncing tom and put the tom on a snare stand) then tied it off on a bass drum t-rod...

Then I could pull or relaxe the string to create more or less pressure on the head... Sort of a manual tuning system...

I played polynesian music! The thing about that is they played every style from Latin, Jazz, Rock and of course the native music which was major tom and bass drum work, very syncopated, fast and challenging... Everything was done vocally, by calling out signals. This was done with 6 girls dancing or a dude twirling fire... Not your ordinary gig and it was a work out to say the least... Every Island has their own style and type of ethnic dance music...

My good ole Ludwigs held out!

Here are the Sonor drums....

Suprisingly, they are in decent shape with normal issues, no extra holes... Finish inside and out will need some cleaning, but once they are cleaned correctly, I think they should look pretty snazzy....

The snare is nice and with a polish should be an excellent edition to a collection...

Sources on the street have told me $1200 for these three drums... I had to make a few phone calls, because I'm not a Sonor guy and really do not sell it much... They actually said $400 - $600 for the snare and $300 for the bass and $300 for the floor tom.... I am breaking up a matched set for this, but the concert toms are probably best for parts... Offers on the parts?

I'm taking offers of course! Cash is KING....

In regards to the shell you have, I'm unloading these for a friend and he is OUT of the drum business....

So he does not want it....

I just noticed also the snare and floor tom have the anniversary badge, but the bass drums do not... As well as the toms have both versions....

So, let me look at the serial numbers.....

The two bass drums are 6043 and 6050

I'm back on the selling mission, now that there are no major gift giving holidays until October.. so I must sell on Ebay to pay the bills...

I'm listing these items slowly on ebay and they are all still available except the Acro and the 18" K crash with the keyhole...

So up on Ebay are two Tama mounts, the Gibralter multi clamps and some small percussion...
