From green glass drum

Hey, nice. What does TDR mean. Is 80 N a model number? Thanks, I am uninformed and kind of dumb.sa

Your NOT dumb!! If you were, you'd never ask the question!!!

TDR stands for Total Dynamic Response. 80N was the catalog number for the kit. See... you're smarter already!

idrum4fun - Thanks and what a nice 80N. I remember that one. I believe Steve added a canister to that, if you can believe it. Really awesome!

green glass drum - Never a stupid question here. There is so much info here and plenty of great guys who love to answer the questions. I couldn't recall what TDR stood for myself.

BGT - Not a 24", just the standard 22". I'm on the lookout for one to add though. After people were joking about having a towel on TommyP's second Rogers 16", I just had to. Buddy's Slingerland 80N second 16" seemed to ALWAYS have that towel on it. Makes a great laptop holder too!

Thanks for the comments people! The Buddy set thread is making me very happy. I have some other snares that will go with this 80N (Fibes SFT, 4"x14" Slingerland COW BR model...), so I'll have to get another photo for that thread.

BHarrington!...

Very nice Slingerland #80N Buddy Rich! SUPER CLEAN!! Absolutely no doubt that you will enjoy them for a good, long time!! I have to comment on the towel gracing your back 16X16:

Up until Buddy's endorsement with Slingerland in 1968, he used his 2nd 16X16 better than a fair amount. Something changed when he went over to Slingerland though... and this is just a personal observation based on my years of research. Anyway, I have a ONE OF print of Buddy at the London Palladium during a sound check in 1968. This was his FIRST Slingerland set as he had just started his endorsement with them. This particular set is even PRE Set-O-Matic tom holder... it's a rail consolette ... and on the back 161X16 is a towel and a pair of sticks. And so it begins! LOL!!!!!!!! That all said:

After it was mentioned that I should have a towel on my 2nd 16X16 with the '65 Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity's.. ( although again, Buddy really didn't start this practice until he was with Slingerland and beyond ) .. I did EXACTLY that this weekend as I just played a Sinatra Show in a 1000 seater on Sunday. ( very well attended too! ) This was a 6 camera shoot plus stills, so I purposely placed a white towel on the back 16X16 as I KNEW this was being filmed/photographed. When I get the pics/vid, I shall post 'em up for the guys at the VDF. And funny thing is, I did that purposely for you guys on this forum! :-) Goes without saying though,

The towel on your #80N Buddy Rich looks absolutely correct, and going back to 1968! NICE drums!!

Great Buddy insight per usual Tommy!

Yeah that's a great observation, when you go back to Buddy's Rogers days and before that even, that second floor tom was more than just a towel rack for him, it was a functional part of his set.

I just had to take a picture with the towel on the second floor tom, I feel left out........

Now if we could just channel the rest of Buddy's mojo that easily!

And AGAIN Billy, that is a KILLER set!

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a WMP 24" for you as I'm sure you are too.
