Buddy Rich Ludwig Shells

Loading...

I think someone here may have a 1980 catalog Buddy Rich set. I remember it was on Boston craigslist and someone on one of these forums picked it up for something like $900.00. The odd thing was that a few weeks prior I saw a 70's B/O canister in wmp on e-bay and then later saw the set listed with everything in the catalog except the throne. I would love to own that set-up.

I would think in reaaly good condition, and in original everything, it would be pretty much whatever you could get, but 1200 would not be unreasonable, I would think? But I am not a Ludwig guy, and yet I do like the look of this kit. So, if I had the money, and was looking for this kit, I might pay that, if all the hardware is there.

My kit (this original thread) is long gone. It was sold after struggling with the tom mount issue. Nice kit, but not missed. The kit that mdbarba mentions is not a BR kit. It's a nice kit, though. Mine wasn't a BR kit, either. I was trying to set it up like one and was curious about the single tom mount. We fought that stupid mount until finally realizing that it was a single part that was rarer than a keyboardist that grooves. Wasn't worth the hassle. Off it went. My gold sparkle replaced it. Nice trade-out if you ask me.

I guess that is a 14" floor tom. Not a bad kit for the dough. 750.00 for that kit?

I recall an article somewhere that I read about a guy who worked for the tonight show, blah, blah, blah. Any way, Buddy gave him his 6 ply Luddies he used on the show, then proceeded to "borrow" them everytime he was back to play on the show.

I don't recall details other than it was a 6-ply kit that he used on the later years of the Tonight Show....
