[QUOTE=Wayne Brown;324176]Guys,we all know how great this man was,but to watch this solo defies what a human being can do on a drum set. This must be towards the end of his life, but Tommy P.-you`ll know for sure.

Wayne!
Yes indeed! This concert took place in the Dominican Republic in 1982... 5 years PRIOR to Buddy's passing.. but! .. he almost passed this night after his band played and this solo! This is from the "Concert For The Americas" with Frank Sinatra, and special guest, Buddy Rich. Vintagemore2000 is correct as the drums are his Ludwigs.. except .. Buddy and Ludwig had already parted ways at this point, so Buddy was playing Ludwig without an endorsement. Anyway... it was very hot with high humidity this particular night.. ( typical for the Dominican! ) .. and Buddy was having a rough go physically. I have the complete performance in my collection, and you can really see that Buddy doesn't look so good. Regardless, in typical BR style... he delivered ... especially so on this solo from "West Side Story". After the set, he went backstage and collapsed from the heat.. exhaustion.. and his heart issues. He rebounded of course!, and went on to play another 5 years 'till his passing in April of 1987. Buddy was 65 here, and still burnin'.
