From ConvertedLudwigPLayer

Very impressive on all fronts - playing, technology, transcribing, etc. Great job!!!!

Thanks, CLP! I'm actually working on an instructional DVD with Carl Palmer using some of these ideas. Hopefully it'll be released later this year.

Thank you for playing match grip too on Not So Quiet Please, very nice to

see someone play so great and not using traditional grip in a big band setting.

Who are you playing with?

Sounds like you'll be giving CP a run for his money! Nice...

I'm working on Bingo's tell-all book about what really happened behind the scenes of the Banana Splits. Being the drummer, he had a unique view of the tussles and power struggles that took place. It will include the legendary fight between Fleagle and Drooper that covered three sound stages. The actual tapes of the "The Tra La La Song" that contain the backmasking will be transcribed and revealed. Let's just say, you can take the lion out of the jungle, but you can't take the jungle out of the lion. Pretty dark stuff. Also, the truth will finally be told about Snorky's crippling addictions. A nose like that placed in Hollywood and showered with money and fame - it was a bad combination. It explains why he never uttered one single word during both seasons. A very sad tale indeed. Look for it in stores this April.

Eric here, I am interviewed in the April issue of Modern Drummer regarding a couple of DVD's I put together of me and Buddy Rich soloing side-by-side. The videos and sheet music can be found on the www.moderndrummer.com homepage. I hope you get a chance to check it out - Thanks!-Eric

ERIC:

THANKS for sharing. Very impressive!Bowing

Is the studio in Ferndale located over on 9 Mile Road?

Also......love the Ludwig Silver Sparkle kit. I assume it's yours and not a studio kit, am I correct?

Thanks again for checking out the clips.

EricP, the "Not So Quiet" solo reminds me of a very hyped up "Sing, Sing, Sing" where Krupa would play matched. It's really the only solo I've seen Buddy do with matched, he could play either grip equally well I guess. I play in a couple of bands in Detroit, Space Nelson and Radar Pilot.

mcjnic - if you could find out if Bingo still has his amber vistas from the '75 tour, I'd really appreciate it. That was his best sounding kit IMHO.

Hi Oldschool, yeah, the Deep Purple vid was filmed at the Tempermill near 9 mile, right in Ferndale. Great room there, always love the sounds out of that place. Yes those are my drums - WMP, they're 2001 luddies. 24, 13, 16, 16.

Thanks!

-Eric

You ROCK! What a cool pic. I'm glad you have a tongue that finds your cheek. I love the kit.

I liked Art's last band (with Jeff Halicki) a great deal. I'm pretty sure I saw Space Nelson with Art's band at the Magic Bag. I currently play with Flophouse.

Real cool video clips and I'm proud that someone from Michigan is getting some "due" for their hard work.
