My band played that ballroom about five years after the ill-fated event that featured the last performances by Buddy, Ritchie, and J.P. Richardson. The backstage area felt spooky.

Here are a few from the early and mid 1960s. The picture with me on the drum riser was at a concert that we opened for The Association in South Holland, Illinois. The color photo is us with Chad and Jeremy at Gretz's Ballroom in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
