I've been playing a Aquarian Jack D Jonete skin , and I am really liking the brush work on it..What do you like?
brush and there heads Last viewed: 5 hours ago
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Christina Hendricks- oh,snare drum heads,sorry-I got distracted :-)
As long as it's a coated head I'm fine with that. I have found that I get a better sound with the snares off.
I have DeJohnette heads on a couple of toms--nice heads, but not on a snare thus far. They feel like they would be sweet with brushes. I'll have to give them a try.
Coated heads various models (Aquarian Modern Classic or Ambassadors by and large). I also like the Fiberskyn Dip weight.
Snares on most of the time for me. (I just feel more comfortable working with that sound, though I appreciate the difference.)
I love playing brushes, have fun.
For brushes, good old-fashioned coated REMO Emperors.
John
I agree. Most of my batters are medium weight, but the couple of snares with Emps are very sweet with brushes.
they and nos luddy's are my fav....

Has anyone ever tried the Evans J1 Etched for brushes? I`m curious to hear reviews...

I agree 100%. I wish they weren't so damn hard to come by!
John
You would think Emperors would not be as sensitive as Ambassadors but I love em.
