Bronze Twins

Loading...

After a long search for a Bronze B/O 5X14 Supra...I finally have one to go with its big brother!

I only had to change out the top hoop and most of the tension rods for it to be correct. Still need to do a thorough cleaning on it.

Man oh man does it sound great

Gorgeous! How do you stare at them without sunglasses? Is the color tone of the bronze on the 5.5 actually a little darker, or is that just the lighting?

Hey Jinx - You're a lucky puppy! I almost snagged that one. I already have a mid-80's 5" hammered bronze, or I would have scooped that one up in a heart-beat.

You really scored with that one, Jerry. It was very reasonably priced. I'm looking for a 6.5" to complete my twins. And yes, they are incredible drums. One of the most well-kept secrets in the Ludwig snare drum line. Just like Allen's drums, where mostly insider/LA studio musicians/drummers knew about them, Ludwig bronze snares are a not so well-kept secret among drummers.

The bronzes are the best sounding snare drums that Ludwig manufactures. Every drummer should have one in their stash.

Nice score, amigo. Enjoy it for many years to come...

John

Too many great drums to list here!

The 5X14 still has the lacquer finish on it. The 6.5 was a nasty mess when I got it with large and multiple black oxidation circles all over it. The shell was also bent and had quite a few dents that needed fixing. I wet sanded and then polished it but did not re-clear it. I wanted the bronze to patina as it has.
