When I first saw your new reply I hoped that your hoop had held but, dreaded the worst! I'm glad that all is well. If it hadn't held, I was going to mention using thin dowels if the thickness of the hoop allowed. They add a lot of strength but can be tricky to install perfectly without good tools. Just glad everything worked out.
