BOP Ludwig Jazz Fest serial number

Loading...

Some days your lucky......

Today, I saw someone post a Ludwig black oyster pearl Jazz Fest along with a "Lido" floor tom, a practice pad and a drum case all for.......$60! I IMMEDIATELY asked for clarification on the Jazz Fest. He sent more pictures and it was indeed a BOP Jazz Fest. Needless to say, my wife rushed over and gave him the $60!!! I know these drums very well as I have a set, but I am confused on the serial number.

Can someone please clarify the serial number 80423 and lack of date stamp on the inside of this drum? There is only two initials drawn on the inside of the drum. The wrap is original and between the ply as expected.

Thanks!

Your joking right it’s to early for April fools

mid sixtys snare drum bop if it’s a little early it could be the elusive ringo snare with correct throw and badge From 63

It could be the 30 k drum lol I don’t get it theses things are not supposed to happen as we flood the net with our info if it is the holy grail I’d go back and throw more doe re me to him

Lol

Gary aka houndog

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Per Rick Gier's Ludwig serial dating guide 80xxx would be expected for approx. later '64. This serial is also in the range where many drums are reported to lack date stamps.

Yes, this is the real deal. I have been studying Ringo's drums for many decades. I know an original wrap when I see one. Because I could never see spending $4,000 plus on one, I ppurchased a beautiful silver sparkl Jazz Fest, years ago and drove up to Jack Lawtons shop and had him re-wrap it in new "vintage" black oyster. I disassembled the entire drum and everything is legit. Need to test rims to see if COB or COS although my small magnet was not attracted. It has the newer white baseball bat muffler. A P-83 strainer etc. Can someone direct me to a link on or tell me how to best polish up the keystone badge? It's not bent or damaged, just tarnished. I'll try to post some pictures tonight! I've been lucky with my Beatles connections. I found out the gentleman who owned Ringo's Sullivan head lived near me and across the street from a friend. He does NOT give tours of his collection, but did for me and we hit it off great! I wore a pair of John's glasses, held Paul's Shea jacket and Ringo's Abbey Road jacket among other very cool stuff. My passion is The Beatle instruments and this gem is very special to me, not the money it's worth, but that I now own one and will keep it!!!!

Thanks for all advice and input and dont forget the badge cleaning question!
