Boosey & Hawkes vintage drum

Loading...

Hi all

First post on this forum, so please forgive me if I ask any stupid questions?

I have just saved a very nice old drum from going to the tip.

It is made by Boosey and Hawkes of London. It does have a number stamped on it which is 31359 (which I believe is untraceable).

It is 15" in diameter and 14.5" tall.

I have tried the internet for details on vintage drums, but it always seems to come back to this forum, so figure you are the GO TO GUYS?

I would like to know how old it is?

Does anybody recognise the emblem on the front?

Is it worth getting it reconditioned or checked?

How much is it worth?

Is it a military drum or other?

Many Thanks In Advance.

Rich

Thanks for looking.

The back half is brass, not sure what is underneath the front.

That's a very handsome parade drum, but I can't tell you any more than that, sorry to say. I recommend you contact any of the British vintage drum dealers who advertise on the Net. You might get a better chance of them being able to help.

It`s Royal Navy. Cadet or regiment but nailing the year will take time.

If you search Royal Navy regiments, or cadets, you`ll see many different patterns.

I`ll look around WWII because that`s about the time frame I think it is.

Notice the same ball pins at the batter heads.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
