What did they sell for back in the 1950-60's (20-22 " rides 18-20" crashes) just a general idea, between the A&k's sorry for the confusion

You can always check out Memphis Drum Shop on Youtube. They have great video reviews with excellent sound (wear good headphones). Every cymbal is going to sound slightly different depending on the individual weights, but you can get a really good idea of the sound you are looking for.
At the moment, I'm using a 20" Zildjian K Custom Dark Ride, and 18" K Dark Crash, and 14" 2002 Paiste Signature Dark Crisp hats.
I play mostly jazz/blues/classic country these days. Up to medium volumes the 20" ride does ok. It tends to wash out in the mix at louder "Classic rock" volumes.
On "classic rock" gigs, i tend to use my 21" Zildjian A Rock Ride. It will cut through anything! ...doesn't crash well, so in those times ill bring in a second crash cymbal.

As a longtime fan of the blues and son of a blues drummer, also having dabbled a bit in it myself, I'd have to say there is no "correct" setup for blues. If we're talking 50's Chicago blues, I'd have to say that most of those cats probably used the same weights and sizes of Avedis Zildjian cymbals that the Jazz guys were using, since some of those blues guys WERE jazz guys too. Thinner weights and bigger sizes were the norm then, so I'd surmise that is what they were using.
As far as my personal cymbal setup right now for blues, I'm using a set of 14" New Beat hi-hats, a 19" crash ride, and a 21" medium ride, all 1980's vintage Avedis Zildjians. Basically a modern interpretation of Joe Morello's setup from the heyday of the Dave Brubeck Quartet. As an alternate setup, I've used Istanbul Mehmet "Legend" series cymbals on blues gigs before......the 14" hi-hats, 19" cash ride, and 21" 2-rivet sizzle ride......basically Mehmet's superior sounding version of Istanbul Agop Mel Lewis cymbals. I found that the Mehmet cymbals sounded better to my ear than the Agops.......Mehmet Tamdeger did make Mel Lewis' personal cymbals before the company split into two, so I'm sure he knows how they are SUPPOSED to sound ;)
I find the larger 19" and 21" sizes carry better and sound a little sweeter than the usual 18" and 20" cymbals that you can get anywhere. :2Cents:
