Blow dryer or Heat gun?

Doing a cleaning and restore on a late 60's early 70's Ludwig Big Beat kit and need to re-glue the seams, which works best? The heat gun (seems too hot) or a blow dryer? How about glue recommendations?

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Unless you're looking to strip the shells, DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN OR BLOWER!

Lifted seam? Clean it out with a small stiff brush, mask off the opposite side of the seam, brush in some adhesive, clamp for 24 hours and done.

No heat gun unless you want the wrap off the shell.

Too many great drums to list here!

John is correct. I've done 3 seams exactly like he recommends and it worked perfect every time. Good advice!

Well then that's how I'll do it! I did use a blow dryer to lift the 12" tom seam but I'll put that away. Thanks for the input!

... or if you want to catch your shells on fire! Heat guns and wrap are equal to a matches and gasoline. Good to remove wrap, but expect at least a couple flashes and frantic smacks with your gloves.
