Most of all older kits I bought had the dreaded duct tape and no bottom hoops scourge lol

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I found a Gretsch RB progressive jazz set in a pawn shop. When the owner brought out the drums, the toms were without the bottom hoops. Yikes! I was disappointed. Then he brought out an old battered fiber trap case and the hoops and t-rods were in it. Man was that lucky. Plus there was an old Rogers drum key in the trap case.

Reverb has a 1966 Ludwig "Downbeat" kit listed, in Black Diamond Pearl, with the following note:

Bass Drum, Floor Tom, Mounted Tom-- these 3 interior surfaces were refinished to original spec white by Village Drums in North Scituate RI (Thanks Anthony) to correct the pink spray paint that was applied to all three interiors in the early 1970s.

Ouch! Black Diamond Pearl with Pink interior!
