Doesn't look like the normal fiberglass technique that blaemire used. I wonder who made it...

No, it doesn't look like Al's work.

But it does look kind of green.

Pic does not show a label inside.

Early prototype ?

My early Blaemire Florio shell (approx 1969) has a label.

Early protos were amber color.

Where's my archaeologist?

Doesn't look like Blaemire to me either. I'll tell Jerry to take a look.

I remember reading a story/article about some Slingerland fiberglass snare drums were made. It was a few years ago. Can't remember much else about it but maybe someone else does.

Even though I have seen some Blaemire shells with differing grid patterns in the sheet roving, I dont think this is a Blaemire shell.

I have seen this pattern before though. I believe I was at Vinnies one time and he showed me a shell (or shells) that I believe had this pattern. Maybe he can confirm that and post a picture. There were no labels on them as I recall.

I would love to see this one close up...

Jinx - I was taking to Vinny on the phone earlier. I pm'd him to check out this thread. Maybe he'll have a photo and some info.

I'm really intrigued at the idea that Slingerland was toying with the idea of fiberglass shells. That story that RogerSling was talking about is quite a story. And from what I understand, in the 70s? But looking at that muffler, What would the odds be that a prototype snare be made with decade plus, old hardware?
