Bunny - You da man! Thanks for the detailed response. I hope, Jinx/Jerry can chime in here to respond to your question. Jinx is as close to a Blaemire expert as you'll find anywhere on the planet. Thanks again, Bunnyman. Much appreciated! Clapping Happy2John

Ok, I have to know... does anybody know 'how' (the exact manufacturing process, equipment and materials used,) Allen produced his shells?Jinx?????John

I could tell ya....but then I'd have to kill ya....

When I have more time I will post more. I spent some time with Mr B. gleaning as much of the process as I could from him. He had Parkinson's disease and it was trying to say the least.

At your own convenience, Mr. Jinx.

>I spent some time with Mr B. gleaning as much of the process as I could >from him. He had Parkinson's disease and it was trying to say the least.

That's the stuff that needs to be written down and published. NSMD and other music related publications would snap up an article like that in a heart beat. Just posting the information here will help. Any time someone Googles, Blaemire, these posts will come up in their search window. Obscure though he may be, Allen made a unique contribution to drum making history. More drummers should know about him and his creations.

I just restore drums, I don't 'create' them from scratch. Jinx, you're more like a hybrid between restorer and creator, Allan was a pure creator. We've all been bitten by the same bug. The only difference between us is our chosen 'specialty'. However, we're not alone. There are a lot of guys with avid interest in anything to do with drums.

Write, Jinx.... write like the wind! It is only fitting that you should be the one to chronical Allen's life and work. You, more than any of us, are one of Allen's True Disciples and torch bearer. You were 'chosen' by the Gods.

Looking forward to hearing more... thanx Jinx!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Al Blaemire was a WONDERFUL person! I had the pleasure of meeting him in the early 70's... at his garage in Eagle Rock, CA! I purchased my Rogers Celebrity kit in 1972 and wanted to add another floor tom around 1973. I got the drum building bug and had Al build a 16x16 shell, to which I added all the Rogers hardware. It's very difficult to tell from the picture, but that second floor tom hides a Blaemire shell! If you're wondering, that snare drum in the picture is a Slingerland COB 12-lug Spitfire. During the time I wasn't using my COB Dynasonic, I had Al build a 5x14 shell, wrapped in WMP and I moved over all the Dynasonic hardware. It made me feel very "Buddy-like"!! Al, you're the best! -Mark

This is great! All these bits and pieces, when stitched together, are the start of a good bio on Allen. When anyone punches Blaemire into their search engine, these posts will come up. It's likely the only archive of info on Blaemire on the web. As small as it is.

Please, keep em coming! I am enjoying this thread and all your Blaemire stories immensely.
