Blaemire 14-6.5 Snare

Loading...

I finally finished reviving this drum. The holes were all over the place.

Nothing straight. Re-layout required based around pre-existing holes.

Fillers required. see pic of hole patches. Picture on right

The hardware that came with the shell is back on the drum except for Rogers strainer. It is a hodgepodge of hardware.

Actually I am cool with just about everything but the TUBE lugs.

But it was drilled for them. So.

Finish on the tubes is a bright chrome(cheesy).

Not dark and rich like the chrome and coffee I like.

It sounds great. Real dry and crisp. I guess the die cast rims take some ring out of the sound.

That is a singularly beautiful drum. The tube lug and Rogers combo works for me. I think the drum looks classy and 'vintage.' I really love the look of the plain, unwrapped fiberglass.

Re: those die cast hoops. I don't know about taking the ring out, when I've played drums with die cast hoops, rim-shots sound like shotgun blasts! I think it makes the drum sound louder for some reason. Could be in my head, but that's the difference I hear when I'm playing something with die-cast hoops on it.

One day... I'll be posting pix of -my- Blaemires!

Great snare, thanks for posting the photos. Jinx would be proud of you...

The drum turned out great Scott! I would personally try a pair of triple flange hoops and open that bad mother up.;)

Hey, Mendozart, Thanks

This is my first experience with die cast rims.

I was surprised to play this drum right after assembly and WHAT?.

Where is the ringing tone I usually have on all my snares?

No Muffling, WC Amb top, Hazy Amb bot.

Also tuning is different. 2 rods are high pitched but kind of loose.

Those are from side to side straight across.

Really though it is kind of a nice controlled studio sound.

Good for my brother (who I rehearse with) who is always complaining,

"drums are too loud, you got excited and the volume went up"

Well that is probably true.
