Black Premier 2000?

Loading...

Hi all, first post here, thanks in advance for any help!

I'm wondering if anybody could help me identify this Premier snare?

It looks like an aluminium 2000, but I've never seen this black finish, inside and out. Was this ever a standard finish, or could this be a custom/prototype?

Looks like a hand done paint job to me and not very well done as these were chrome on alloy as std.

These bubble and corrode a lot due to the fact that the alloy reacts with the chrome plating, I looked at re-wraping one of mine with plastic car wrap but sand blasting it and getting a good paint job or polish done would probably be better.

If it has no serial number then the base drum is pre 1970 but the black finish is not factory or custom but an attempt to cover the horrors of alloy oxidisation.
