From vintage drum bug

I'd sell my soul for a Panther snare drum!Vin

Good thing I'm not after your soul then, huh vintage drum bug? ......though just owning something like this does make a superior bargaining chip, don't you think? heeheehee

TEASER PIC !!!!!

This is one of only three Ludwig Black Panther snare drums ever heard of from the Ludwig masters on this forum, and it's the only one out of all of them in this particular size...10x14", baby!!!

Forum member ludwigvondrummer also owns one in a different size (6x15") and he told me the 3rd one is floating out somewhere in the world, which was also another 6x15" which sold on Ebay about 5-6 years ago, he said.

You really got a Rockdrum there man!!!!

Any chances of better pixs?

Ill keep following Poppy steps...Il build myself a BP 6.5x14. I got a very old Ludwig shell (I think its 40's)...would that be blasphemy Ludwigdude?

It sthe only shell I have and looks like a single ply. w/reiforcements hoops. It came to me with a Ludwig and Ludwig badge and brass (or some hard composite) Imperial lugs...wouldnt be that a killer custom?

Is this yours? Does it have clips for a marching snare strap?

here is a thread created by Ludwigdude about black panthers. It's very informative and after reading it I decided to buy some a guy had here. I restored mine and they look fabulous. I love them!

vintage drum bug: I'm out of town at a wedding, better pics coming in the next few days!!! I had just gotten the drum back from the drum shop where I had the bearing edges worked on (the bottom edge was choppy) and was reassembling it so took my "teaser pic" for you to drool over. ;)

poppy: While it is a 10x14" drum, there are no extra holes at all in the shell for any marching gear attachments.

PS- I'll still be getting back with you about that auto vinyl as well. :)

I have a 14X10 marching snare. It had two clips for a strap. Tension rods held the clips.

Oh, OK. Tension rods hold the strap then? I've not owned a marching snare before this one so thought it may have had some sort of mount drilled through the shell.
