I think his "Main" kit is also a Rogers, a "Tower" set in what looks like Gold Onyx.

I don't know that I have ever seen Chico Hamilton play with bottom heads.
I love his playing, I love his sound...but it makes me cringe

For that melodic stuff he does the single head is really the only way to go I think (that's why they call 'em timp-toms after all!)

As I watched the Martin film, I was wondering what it would sound like to have him play essentially the same think with the reso heads on. Would be an interesting comparison. Nice looking Rogers set though.

I saw him with the yellowed black onyx set with M, M, and W. It was a great concert and I love Martin's playing, but the single headed Rogers sounded like poop. Very dead...
