Nice one and if it works for you the price slowly becomes irrelevant.
BIG Geo. Way Snare
Thanks for the comment. The price is already irrelevant to me. Part of my collection is comprised of very rare British snare drums, and I'm quite accustomed to paying much more for a drum than I did for this one. Considering how much I like the Geo. Way drum, and how good I think it sounds, I think I still got a bargain. It's all about perspective.

Top dollar is around $350 so in the realm of things $200 is irrelevant if you like the drum and it stays in your collection. Funny how 9x14 can make all the difference compared to 10x14 as far as a functioning snare drum on a kit. Sounds like the drum went to the right guy! Enjoy it!

Thank you, I will. It's funny, I was directed to the drum by an English Camco/Geo. Way collector/friend who's not a player. He thought it was a bargain, but the seller didn't ship overseas. Believe me, I'm not overjoyed at having paid $200 too much, but I do really like the drum and yes, it will stay in my collection until I can no longer play. It will end up on many of my recordings. It will 'earn its keep', so-to-speak.
Thanks again for your input.

I don't think you paid $200 too much. I think the price is right in line with retail value.

Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. Like I said, I like the drum so much, that it really doesn't matter. It really is one fine sounding snare, and I think it's a real looker and quite unique. The last Camco Aristocrat that sold on ebay went for $900 (I didn't bid on it), so maybe the prices are going up; although for some reason Geo. Way drums don't have the same value as Camcos.

There were leg rests available that clamped onto the tension rods rather than being bolted to the drum shell.

Thanks for the explanation. When I marched in the mid-'70s, the drums had all kinds of contraptions to hold them up.
Appreciate it.
