Beverley vintage late 60's floor tom. (not seen this finish before)

Thanks Rich K. I had not seen that Ajax finish before. The "Burgandy Ripple" is very close to the Beverley & Kent finishes.

It does not appear to have been a popular finish, judging by the lack of available used sets on the market. I think it looks cool, though. Maybe I'll post a pic of mine when I'm done rehabbing it (and maybe native will sell me his floor tom to include in the pic...LOL)

Thanks again.

I would be a happy man if I could find a kit in this finish. Right now I am not in the position for another kit though.

That is a good-looking set. I would love to buy it and add it to mine for a double-bass set-up, but getting it to the states seems too costly. You got any upcoming trips planned to the USA? LOL!

Yours appears to be not only the same finish, but from the same era as mine, with the round Beverley Badge--a little older than the one posted by Native Beats. There do not seem to be too many of these remaining in the world. Here's a pic of mine in its current configuration.

Good luck & peace,

JJ

Hey Wayne: Not really sure of the wood type. I originally thought they were maple, with mahogany support rings, but birch may be a more likely possibility.

I'm not sure they are THAT desirable, at least insofar as the vintage drum market goes. But those who have them seem to like them. If you haven't yet, read Mike Ellis' excellent article on the history of Beverley drums, including its 1950s-1960s relationship with Premier. The drums we've posted/discussed on this thread were made during the period Beverley was contracting its production through the Premier factory. While I am no Premier expert, I've read the Beverleys during this period are essentially vintage Premier shells, with slightly cheaper hardware (lugs/hoops/etc.) So, some of the vintage Premier guys may have an interest. And these cool wraps they had also helped make a name for themselves. Otherwise, it seems like an insular group of vintage Beverley fans.

I'm pretty sure all the Premier/Beverley shells were birch with beech support rings.

If you ever want to get rid of the drum let me know- I'm putting a Bevver together for the past few years.
