Best way to ship drumheads?

I usually make my own box by re-cutting a larger box down to size. But, I'm debating just sending one out in the regular thin cardboard box they come in when you buy them at the shop and putting some extra cardboard liners in there for good measure and then taping it all up in a brown paper bag and sending it that way. What do you think?

What's your way of sending drumheads?

Don't do it. I just received an Aquarian head mailed in the paperboard box. There was a permanent crease in one side of the head when I got it. The box itself looked like it had been through those mail wringer sorter machines several times. The postal clerk even stacked a heavy box on top of it WHILE I WAS WATCHING. The paperboard box is designed for display purposes; it was never meant to go through hordes of postal employees.

Buy a sheet of luaun. It is cheap enough, light enough and you can cut it easily with a razor knife. I usually use my 4' level for a straight edge when cutting luaun. Cut that to fit in the box and it wont crease, period.

Did you scream and tell him to send it back, all the while asking for his name and supervisor? I would have told him to send it back, he just ruined it. I am rather a prick tho, so my hatefulness is probably not for you. I really would have exploded, leaving little pieces all over the PO.....

The extra cardboard liners should do the trick.

My last shipment from Interstate was shipped with a large pizza box cut to fit inside the Evans box, and they arrived in good shape.

Extra pepperoni, I think it was.............:p

For 16" and smaller, a pizza box. (Ya beat me to it!)

You can usually pick a few up for $1 each from your local pizza guy.

Bigger is difficult, they can be purchased online or make them from larger boxes.

HaHaHa.. . Well she was passing out mail in an un-airconditioned garage (Our Post Office was heavily damaged by the recent flooding), and she had no way of knowing that it was a fragile item that was poorly packaged. And besides, the damage had already been done.

Oh, and I like the pizza box idea.
