Best riser for 18" FT to BD conversion? Last viewed: 25 seconds ago

Loading...

I want to turn an 18 FT into a BD.

I will space lugs out and use a Reg BD head with a wood or FG hoop.

Still need to raise it up 1-2 " for the beater location and pedal height.

Any suggestions for products. Riser front and rear?, pedal mount plate

spurs into FT leg mounts?

Thanks SA

I am going to do the same thing with an 18" drum. I was going to try the one from Trick, it has a riser and two legs that fit into existing tom leg holders. I think it is around $80

A crude drawing but you might be able to make your own. I never did but it might be worth a try. You could trace the curvature of your FT and make a couple pieces of wood like pictured below and connect them the proper distance away from each other (maybe a solid plank of wood on bottom?) and just screw on a hinge for the bass pedal mount. Maybe rubber strip(s) on the bottom to help from sliding? Just an idea, never tried it, may have to experiment. Also saw this neat tom mount for a floor tom conversion (Gibraltar/Dunnet rail mount).

I built a bass drum out of a 16" FT with wood hoops, a Gibraltar bass drum riser and some 60's Ludwig legs to fit into the existing FT legs mounts. I also added a rail mount system, a 12" rack tom and an extra tom mount for a ride cymbal. Scope it.

It's just an MIJ floor tom and rack that I picked up a while back. I have the cheapie stick-on wrap on it, but it is strictly a practice kit to take to my bass player's garage. Works perfectly for that and sounds great, actually! I have a coated emperor on the front and clear Powerstoke 3 on the back of the kick.
