I stopped doing them years ago. I hated the drunk people. Lots of bad breath and yelling into ears. The gigs always paid well, but never enough.

Nowadays, I just sit and watch the ball drop on television. HURRAY!

Hey.. O-Lugs.. Yeah I'm way to old (or maybe just worn out) for that crap now... so I guess worst New Year's gig ever would be just as entertaining.. :).

This year the family sat in the dining room and put together a puzzle of the Nutcracker Ballet Excited .... but at least I didn't have to fight my way out of the place.

Not a big fan of new years gigs here either. I stayed home last night and worked on setting up my recording studio (pics up soon) which kept me out of trouble, for the most part ;)

Sorry, but I don't have a "Best NY Gig Ever" story to share :(

I am an old guy as well.(69) I don't care for drunks either, but I enjoy eating and buying drums so I played NYE. I already lost 5 gigs in Dec. so the work was welcome. My best NYE gig was at an Indian casino in Washington state. I made $750 + a room and a totaly magnificent meal for both me and my wife. This year, another fine meal(filet mignon) but only $300. But what the heck. Also, at the same venue last year I played my newly acquired 1970 rosewood teardrop Sonors. This year I planned on playing something else as my Sonor spurs were being repaired by a friend. Well the guy called me at noon on NYE and said they were ready! So there I was in this really elegant room with my Sonors and my 1928 10 lug Ludwig black beauty grooving away happily. Too bad some of you had to stay home.

The other scary New Year 1984 ( remember Y2K? Ha! ) at a Swanky 2-Floor

Supper Club called Pizazz in MKE.

Full mirror ball / smoke machine Xanadu upstairs with live Country and

Western on the main level. Pre-reserved crowd of 500 with the city's then

top DJ's as masters of ceremony.

Between the Stetsons and Polyester a real mixer 'fer sure.

Started snowing around 2:30 in the afternoon, 5 inches on the ground

by 6:00. A 2 hour 15 mile drive home from work, knocked the front end

off my car on an icy turn.

Borrowed a ride from the Missus grandparents ( a lovely new K-Car )

$200.00 for 6 sets with a 20 minute break between to shovel out the

car that was being buried with another 2 inches an hour.

Continental breakfast @ 4:00 am with a 15 mph ride home @ sunrise.

Even the city buses ( free rides for the revelers ) were stuck...

I simply priced myself out of the market in 1986.
