Best heads for concert toms and tuning tips!

Over the years I have owned, Tama, Pearl, Rogers & Slingerland concert toms in various sizes..(plus all those years playing with the reso head removed from standard toms)... CS heads are louder.... Pinstripes are far the best overall sounding IMO... I only recently tried some Aquarian P2"s... But have now changed them back to Pinstripes..

Cheers

John

I used to run CS black dots on my "Peart wannabe" kit because the 6-8-10-12 concert toms were wood shell. You get a stacatto attack with some woodiness.

Now on vistalites, I would go emporor or pin stripe. Only because those shells are so bright the CS dots will make them sound almost metallic.

I use Emperor WK clear and Black dot added on if you can`t find originals.

MOST IMPORTANT, tune them in place on the rack. Not on the bench.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Just to give you even MORE choices, I have been hearing about Evans Strata heads that are supposedly designed especially for CT's.

2 big name CT dudes use these.
