Bedford Musical Company Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Good afternoon!

I just picked up a very old looking snare drum which has a stamp that says that it was manufactured by the "Bedford Musical Co." in Bedford, Ohio.

I have been unable to locate any information on the "Bedford Musical Co." and am very curious about the history of this drum (which I plan to restore - it is missing the snare throwoff and some lugs so I am hoping that I can somehow locate original parts).

I have attached a few pics for your viewing (it is really hard to see the stamp in the pic though).

Any information that can provided is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Henry

Hi Bedford - The guy you'll want to talk to is; Mike Curotto. He's a member here. Look him up and ask Mike about your drum. If anyone will know, Mike will.

Please post photos of the restoration!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

In the late 1800's/early 1900's........there were hundreds of SMALL drum shops that are long gone, that no one knows much about........

your drum company being one................

Thank you to everyone for getting back to me!

Purdie - I will certainly see if I can get in touch with Mike (I will also be sure to post photos of the restoration - I am hoping that I can find some parts that will look original).

Mikey777 - I will post more pictures which show the lugs and the strainer in better detail - thanks for your help.

Blairndrums - thank you for your input - my wife's mother (who is an antiques dealer) just looked at the drums today and said the exact same thing that you did regarding it being from the late 1800's > early 1900's) - hoping that someone is able to get more info on the maker - we contacted the Bedford Historical Society and they are helping research the maker as well.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Sincerely,

Henry
