Bass hoop flat spots

I just bought a Cleveland Rogers kit and the bass drum hoops have a couple of flat spots most likely caused by the pedal. Is there a fix for this?

There's a rubber guard they sell you can put between the pedal and the hoop. It's a nice, thick piece of rubber so it should do the trick.

That, or don't try to play any 'sharps' on the 'flat' spot! DOH
