bass drum spurs

Loading...

Hi,I have purchased a super classic 67/68,one thing is confusing me,the bass drum hasn't got the standard folding spurs for a 22" of this year.It is fitted with twin 1303 spurs the straight disappearing type, they look factory fitted no other holes anywhere.Does anyone out there know if some of bass drums were originally fitted with these spurs.also the toms have twin dampers is this also a feature of this era, most i have seen only have one.Any help would be wonderful kind regards Pete h

It is quite possible that these drums did come this way from the factory. They either used what they had at the time or it was ordered this way by the original owner. Either way, sounds like a cool kit. Pics sometime?

sounds like a special order to me Both carmine appice of vanilla fudge and John Bohnam of Led zep had twin straight spurs on their sets and this was also common on drums of the swing era , also the folders were a pain in the A$$ and also of players in rock bands changed them out or ordered them different.. i want to see the kit.. :) twin mufflers also sounds special order and it probably was someone who recorded...

There's a lot of variability on old Ludwigs. Last set I had was the same setup. Definitely prefer them to the fold-out spurs. No collapsing during gigs! Yes, they were original. Same as you see on the Club-date series.....Bill D.
