Bass drum identification

Loading...

This bass drum 20x14 came with a kit that had two Ludwig Classic toms 12" Snr.1897991 and 14" Snr. 1898469. No date stamps. 6-ply clear maple. So I date them to be late 78-79

The bass drum is missing the B/O badge and with bass drum spurs that are rare..drum has Classic lugs + T-rods.

Is this a Ludwig classic 6-ply maple 20x14 bass drum ? I am in doubt...

Is there a mark on the inside of the badge hole, looks like there was never a badge in that hole. The inside will have a burr mark if it did.

Yes, there is a mark on the inside of the badge hole....looks like a small piece of the wood is removed and most likely attached to the badge when it was removed. See picture. But the bass spurs...? Has anyone else seen such spurs on a Ludwig before ?

Yes those are classic retractable spurs, but I have not seen them on the Classic Maple series. Maybe it was a short run. I can only find the fold back spurs on them. There are much better Ludwig guys than I on this site that can clear the air.

A few more things I see photo #1 the plates on the mounts inside the drum are upside down

photo #3 the wing nuts are up side down the should be facing up towards the badge...Iam thinking sone one added these to the drum..
