Hi,

Sorry if this is a lazy post, and the info's on the site somewhere.

can anyone tell me when ludwig introduced the baseball bat muffler?

and when the felt colours were changed

I've got a transition badge kit with regular mufflers but love the look of baseball bat ones ,should i change them?

thanks

Don't change it. Keep the drum original. Ludwig Von crazy will probably know for sure on the introductions of the baseball bat and the colors. I'll take a stab at it. I think it was around 1962 1963 the bat appeared with the red felt. I think they turned white in 1966.

That's sound right. Ball bats appear I think around 1963. Could be earlier but I had a 22,13,16 silver sparkle from April of 1963 and it still had round knobs. The color changed to white probobly in late 1965. Round knobs appeared again in early 1968.

I have a '62 and they have the bat mufflers that are red felts. I also have a '65 18" floor tom with the bat style only it is a white felt.

Hope this helps.

Although nice to look at, the BB mufflers do not work as well as the round knob type which were much more adjustable. I am sure that is why they were discontinued. I have a BB on my supra and I never use it during gigs. Sometimes for practice if I want to tone it down a bit.

Keep the drum original.
