Barello prototype

Loading...

Hello, just wanted to share a prototype drum set we've build for and with drumer Enos Kugler.

They are new but are made in vintage style.

There are wood lugs integrated in to the shell with no screws and nothing goes through the shell it self. We put some matching hoops to:)

The wood is mahogany-Sapele

Here is audio&video of the set:

Hope you enjoy it:)

Thank you, I'm glad you like them:)

Sorry I don't have any photos of the drums yet, they are not in my posession any more, but I will take a couple of photos and post them.

For lugs we used glue and pins. We drilled the shell and leave aproximately 1mm of material so the pins don't go through the shell. The most tricky and most important part of the process is cutting the right radius on lugs, this part is crucial to make a strong bond, so the lugs can hold the presure of tuning.

I hope I've answered your questions

Hi Balero,

Very nice!

Are they stave or block construction? What is the shell thickness?

Hello Barry!

They are stave construction, with reinforcement ring cut into the shell. Shell thickness is 7mm, with reinforcement ring 10mm.

That is some of the best work I've seen on Stave shells. How did you get that band effect? I ask because I make stave snares as a hobby and would love to try it in my garage although It may not be possible with the tools I have. Again, very nice shells.
