B&H or Ajax Snare info

Loading...

Hey I purchased this old snare not sure what it was at first but now with a little help from supraphonic in the US vintage forum have figured out that this is likely a Boosey and Hawkes or Ajax snare but I have not being able to find and identical example of this snare yet. I haven't been able to find anything with that style of tube lugs yet. I figured all the experts would likely be in this forum that might of seen this snare before.

Thanks

I have an Ajax snare with a number stamped inside in the same type face. 1950s I think. Yours is not so well finished in the inside but looks to be B&H.

Mine did have hoops like yours but I gave it a major refurbish.:

I think the water stains are from fitting the calf skin heads on it, it still has a calfskin head on the bottom.

Based on the serial#, this drum would have been made around 1955 or so.
