I was wondeing if anyone knows a way other than using string, of attaching the snare wires to the slingerland rapid strainer. I've tried string, and it snaps after 30mins or so of hard playing. Is there are plate you can fit to the holes to make a clamp plate like on other strainers?

I can play loud and hard, and I've never even come close to snapping snare string. I use Pearl's string these days. It's pretty strong.
When I was younger, I used to use fishing line. Worked like a charm.

If you're snapping string, it's probably not the string's fault. Check for a "burr" on the bottom hoop or the holes where you put the string.
I've been bashing on snares with everyday snare string for 40 years, and I've never had a string break.
