Asian cheapo drum questions

Loading...

I got this drum really cheaply, so I can reclaim my Rogers 16" from Sunday Church duty. The brand is Sonic Drive. Seems fine for a small kick. I stripped it. The wrap was buckled up at the back. I'm going to stain it for fun. Firstly, what's the best stuff for removing wrap tape residue? And secondly, it's six plies and the inside and outside is this very white wood. Any guesses? Thanks very much.

Could be basswood?

I'd try to take away the residues with either acetone, ethyl alcohol or cleaning solvent.
