Artist or Hollywood Ace?

Loading...

Hey guys,

I'm trying to I.D. an old snare I've had forever. It's a 5x14 eight lug slingerland with stick saver hoops, maple outer ply, poplar(?) middle ply and mahogany inner ply with maple rings. The strainer was replaced with a p-85 (looks like the one from an acrolite) but I don't think the holes were re-drilled cuz if memory serves the p-85 fits in place of either the zoomatic or the rapid strainer without drilling. Anyway, it has the pre serial number gold and black Niles badge. I'm leaning toward thinking it's the Hollywood Ace, but I'm not positive. Oh, yeah- the rings are the one inch high ones. The wrap was removed before I got it, so I'm thinking of rewrapping it champagne sparkle. Any thoughts?

Still the best genre of SNL.

And the part about Chevy being Steely Dan's pre-fame drummer doesn't hurt.
