Hi Friends,
Just wanted to share these pics of a drum set I recently worked on for a neighbor. I have never heard of the Aria drums before, but I do know they are MIJ, most likely late 60's/early 70's, 20/14/12/14sn config with the thicker shells with gray painted interiors. A couple of interesting details to note are the glass glitter wrap (not sparkle) and the hoops were made of thick/hard plastic. All I did was clean it up and put new heads on it all the way around.
Now for the backstory on the drums....
I saw them in my neighbor's garage and I inquired about them. It turns out they belonged to his daughter-in-law's father who passed away fairly recently. He's been sitting on them, but wanted to fix them up and give them back to her. Since I love vintage drums, I offered to do the work for him and we were both pleased with the end results. We added the father's initials on it as a tribute to him. Hope you guys dig this kit as much as I do. By the way...these things are in really nice shape, with no extra holes or customizations and that 6-lug snare sounded surprisingly good!
