Are These Really Ludwigs?

Loading...

After departing from a band I played in for two years, I was given these shells (no snare) by one of the members. They were in his garage and he wasn't using them. I'd love to believe they're really Ludwigs, but with no badges, no serial numbers, no wrap, and some of the questionable hardware, I just don't know. The lugs and tom holder seem legit, but the floor tom leg mounts say "Japan," which has me thinking it was pieced together to look like luddies. I think there are holes where a badge should be on each shell; and I'm not sure what kind of wood this is. The bass drum has a 45 degree bearing edge, but the toms have rounded edges. It has no bottom hoops or heads. Sizes are 12", 13" 16" and 26". Can you guys help me identify these drums? Thanks!

I agree...made in Japan. The lugs and t-rods on bass drum appear to be Ludwig, though.

I agree. MIJ's with Ludwig hardware. At least the hardware is worth something!

Don't get me wrong... if they sound good, like Mike said above: "roll on with them!"

But a 26" Bass drum? Did they make that size in Japan in that era?

The toms look just like the toms on my tie dye kit. The kit i redid in tie dye is a lot like yours....pieced together to have the ludwig look. I personally love that ludwig tom mount. Its the best there is and good looking too, jmo.

Anyway...with some remo pinstripes and tuning up...them babys sould rock. I think you got a nice kit there....not ludwigs tho.

ps, the bass could possibly be a ludwig. ???
