Apollo Kit

What do you want for the ZBTs? Please post a pic if this snare shell. I am really wondering which shell it has. Is it grey interior, or plain? You see, this snare, at this time, had a few different designs. The 8s are the bomb. They really can be set up right. I use a Z-100 Aquarian on all my woodies and they sound so fantastic with this head. See, these old MIJ drums came with single ply heads and sound best with a good, clean single on them. I use the Z for two reasons: 1) it just sounds good, and B) they are cheap. Trust me, these old drums seem, for some reason, to sound best with cheap single ply heads, period. Not to say that the Rhythm heads are the best, but the big boy singles all seem to be best for them. I know, it's all relative and subjective, but this is a $10 head, and sounds just right on these drums.

No, that's not mine. This is the snare he got with this kit. I love it, and really wish I could buy it, but as it is, I am up to my eyes in other kits that I must complete....

I was talking about the WMP Apollo you got from Goodwill... the one in the repair video.

Anyway, between the three of us, I'd say we have all the Apollo snares covered: Sound King copies, teardrop copies, and teardrop copies with the adjustable butt.

JONNI:

I sold the ZBTs earlier today. I've attached a few pics of the inside of the snare drum, per your request.

Cool, I have one of these. First, the strainer is very particular. Do not unwind or over wind it, it will take forever to figure out what you did. If the strainer seems unresponsive now, you will need to either wind it way up, or way down. This is why this strainer has the micro-butt on it, to take up some of the adjustments that you can't take out with the strainer. Weird system, to be sure.

This drum will, when tuned up right, sound more like a Gretsch than any other drum on the planet.

Wow, sounds like you got a killer deal! So the chrome snare ended up being an Apollo, not a Supra? Well, it's always good to have the matching snare. Are all the badges the same? I bet that snare ends up sounding pretty decent tuned up with a fresh coated Amb. Would you mind posting some pics of the snare and the Apollos set up as a 4 piece?Nice score!Oh, I'm sorry about the ZBTs... Toilet

CN679: Here's some pics of the kit as a 4-piece, per your request. Sorry about the poor cosmetic condition. I haven't had any time to clean them up, as of yet. You'll notice a small tear in the wrap on the upper portion of the floor tom.
