Just rec'd a Supra - it has very little chrome problems....yet. Is there ANYTHING that would help to maintain and keep the chrome intact? Does it help to seal it with a wax/polish...?

I know these are darned near a sure thing, but I'd like to at least slow it down.

??

Yes, absolutely keep it waxed/polished. My 1963 has no pitting on the exterior (only a couple of spots on the bearing edges) even though it spent most of it's life a the beach (salt air destroys everything!). I believe it has been saved by the occasional polishing I would give it with whatever brand of car polish I was using at the time.

Yep, just about any chrome polish will do the trick. However, go for the best you can find!

I'm thinking that when we're talking about polish, we're also talking about a good wax to seal it?

Most of my experience is with shiney metal motorcycle parts but any good car wax will keep it nice.

Rusting will be brought on early by lots of handling by folks with with acidic sweat or acicic ph level. I once lent a guitar with brand new strings to a friend who played it for a 3 hour gig. When he was done ALL of the strings were black/brown/rusted/corroded. Trick is to wipe chrome after it's handled.

Believe it or else!

Aluminum doesn't rust. It corrodes......while "rust" is a form of corrosion, it applies to steel or iron only. Again, aluminum can't rust.

Turtle wax chrome polish to clean, any good carnuba paste car wax to seal it and keep it looking good, that's all you need to keep it looking great.

Correct. Ferrous Oxide=rust=Fe2O3.

I also have a concern with pitting. Is that formed by rust penetrating pinholes in the surface...again, something that could be protected by wax??
